History

History

Toronto Irish Football Club was founded in 2008 by two recently settled Irishmen, David Robinson and Daithi Hosford.

TIFC joined the Canadian Multicultural Soccer League for the 2009 season, finishing top of the league on goal difference but were not crowned champions on account of the league's head-to-head ruling.

However, TIFC's trophy cabinet did not remain empty. The club's inaugural season saw them win the QEW Cup at BMO Field (home to the MLS' Toronto FC) with a 5-3 win over the Hamilton League Champions, Glasgow United.

TIFC and the TSSL

In 2010 TIFC joined the Toronto Services Soccer League. The TSSL was founded in 1958 and is the City's oldest competition.

In 2011 Toronto Irish FC expanded and now fields two teams. TIFC-A entered the TSSL First Division, while TIFC-B competed in the Second tier. In their first season both sides won promotion in first place. In 2012 TIFC-A won the Premier Division, while TIFC-B gained promotion to the Premier Division for 2013.

TIFC and the OSL

Since 2013, TIFC-A have played under the Ontario Soccer League pyramid in the Multi Jurisdictional League, while TIFC-B continue to compete for the Premier Division title in the TSSL.
